CAREER TRANSITION

Whether you have decided to make a career change on your own, have been outplaced by your employer, or are downsizing due to retirement, making a career transition can be a challenge. If you are adding in changing industries this can add to the complexity. Navigating the transition is often a lengthy process that requires both commitment and a willingness to risk the change.

A career transition is not a simple process. It will take more than looking for a new role and submitting an application. Job websites, recruitment consultants and resumes have their place, but they are often not the place to start (although you will need them!)

A career transition is also not just about your career. It's about your life. There are may reasons to consider a change, these can be a result of illness or injury and wanting to find a more suitable role, it can also be that your priorities have shifted or that you have entered a different life stage. The traditional job market is not the best place to be when making a career transition. You will need to think outside the box when it comes to making the change, and look at how your existing skills (from your work history and other life skills) can be transferred into a new role. In addition to this, you'll need effective communication and networking skills, to aid you in this change.

Psychometric tests can help you understand yourself, including your workplace preferences and values, however they will only form part of the journey. In addition to psychometric tests, career and personal development coaching can assist you to find your next direction and keep you focused along the way to identifying and reaching your goals.
